CARRY OUT THE MISSION

Romans 8:28

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purposes.

In countries across the globe, people wake up each morning to carry out a mission — to facilitate the growth of God’s Kingdom. They are our prayer warriors, our teachers, our international partners, and of course, our entrepreneurs who come together for specialized discipleship. They give of their time and their knowledge to carry out the mission.

These believers are the reason iBam thrives. It requires faith from all of us. We put our faith in our international partners and empower them to select our entrepreneurs. We put faith in our teachers to bring the biblical knowledge and business knowledge to our participants. And we all put faith in our entrepreneurs to thrive and carry out Business as Mission.

PSALM 126:5-6

“Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.”

Many of our teachers are board members or staff members of iBAM. Some of them are selected from our partner churches. All either own a business or work in business, are trained in our curriculum, and are sent with a cohort of other teachers. We don’t send anyone alone. Our program’s success depends on discipleship with built-in accountability. We put our faith in one another, share our knowledge, and trust in God to take us where we are needed.

Once a survey trip to a country is complete, the application process begins, and our partner church shares the word within their community. To select the participants for each cohort, our partner churches focuses on three criteria: A participant must be a believer in Jesus Christ, have an established history of good character, and have the grit necessary to be an entrepreneur.

Once selected, Phase I begins with participants spending up to ten hours per day for almost a week learning what God’s word says about money and the doctrines of vocation and work. We lay out the foundations for a Kingdom business plan and our participants learn common reasons why businesses fail and common reasons why they succeed. After all of this study they conduct a research project on their business idea, which becomes their ticket into Phase II. Phase II determines the viability of their business plan and then prepares them to actually launch their business.

1 CORINTHIANS 3:7-8

“So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor.”

As you can see, we have an intensive process designed to help every person thrive where God has planted them, whether as one of the iBAM entrepreneurs, as part of a partner church, or as part of the iBAM deliver-the-training team. We work closely with each person so they understand their role and how it helps to set up our entrepreneurs for success. In essence, when we carry out Business as Mission we see believers move from surviving to thriving. Come find your role on the iBAM team.
